The press conference for Disney+ Hotstar’s latest Korean drama, Low Life, held at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday (July 8, 2025), was full of excitement and warmth. The main cast, including veteran actor Ryu Seung Ryong, along with Yang Se Jong, Yunho (TVXQ), and Lee Sang Jin, greeted media questions with bright smiles and enthusiasm, moderated by MC Park Kyung Rim.

“It’s something rare. I truly didn’t want the filming to end. The combination of the actors, the happiness and passion on set—it was so genuine. I felt like I learned so much from everyone,” said the seasoned actor born in 1970.

“Byeol Gu is quite different from who I am in real life. So I felt a bit pressured while preparing for the role,” shared the TVXQ leader.

However, thanks to the support and encouragement from Ryu Seung Ryong, Yunho was able to fully commit to his character.

“I remember the advice Ryu Seung Ryong gave me—he said, ‘We all truly love this drama. So make sure you do it well.’ That was such a valuable lesson for me,” Yunho added.

2. Lee Sang Jin: Working with Veteran Actors Was a Dream Come True

For Lee Sang Jin, portraying Na Dae Sik in Low Life was more than just another role—it was a dream fulfilled. Despite initial nerves, the actor felt uplifted by the energy and guidance from his senior co-stars.

“Working with these great actors felt like a dream come true. The emotions they brought out helped me release my own energy. There were certain things I hadn’t prepared well, but they helped me along the way,” he said.

When asked if Ryu Seung Ryong was one of the mentors who supported him, Lee confidently said yes, and also mentioned several other names:

“Of course, there was Ryu Seung Ryong, Kim Jong Soo, Kim Eui Sung—everyone really. I had scenes with Jong Soo and I learned a lot from him,” said the 1992-born actor, dressed in a white T-shirt layered under a satin shirt and glasses.

“Se Jong was always reading the script. I could tell he truly understood his character. Watching him immerse himself in the role inspired me, too,” Ryu commented.
